I am doing a buffet for school and the region is “the nordic states” (norway, seden, finland, denmark) and i need to make a cocktail sauce for my shrimp. I dont want to make a standard sauce. Does any one know what i can add to my sauce to make it more towards my reigion. Or any recipies any one has thank you

In Sweden, they use pickled herring in everything. Maybe serving it with a pickled herring on the side? (Herring is a fish.)

how about adding a shot of Scandanavian or swedish vodka to the cocktail sauce.. I’m sure it will have a uniqe but good twist on the taste..

Maybe you can make a Rémoulade
“In Denmark it is an essential ingredient on the Danish open-face roast beef sandwiches, along with roasted onion. Remoulade is also used for breaded fillets of fish (e.g. cod or plaice), on danish hot dogs, along with mustard, ketchup, onions and pickles, and it is one of the most commonly-used sauces in which to dip french fries. Danish remoulade is also very popular in Sweden and Norway, but there mostly for fish with boiled potatoes, dill and perhaps creamed spinach. In many German and Swedish hot dog stands it is possible to order a “Danish hot dog” served as described above. ”
1cup (250 ml) mayonnaise
1 Tbs (15 ml) finely chopped dill pickle
1 Tbs (15 ml) chopped capers
1 Tbs (15 ml) Dijon mustard
1 Tbs (15 ml) chopped parsley
1/2 tsp (2 ml) chopped fresh tarragon, chervil, or chives
1/2 tsp (2 ml) anchovy paste (optional)
Combine all ingredients and stir to mix well. Serve chilled. Makes about 1 1/4 cups (310 ml).
